Can I Charge My Phone With A 2.1 Amp Charger. My car charger is a dual-USB outlet 21 amp my charger at work is 1 amp and my stock charger at home is 700 miliamps. Samsung Galaxy Core Prime wont charge.
Charging faster than specified will shorten the batterys lifespan how long - or how many times it is able to be recharged for versus runtime how long it will run on a full charge so connecting a 21Ah charger will charge the phone no faster than a 1Ah charger will. There is no problem supplying that current from the 24 A adapter since the phone controls the charging. However if youre in a pinch and need some extra battery fast then using a larger amp charger wont destroy your iPhone.
I recommend charging your iPhone with the standard 1 amp charger that is included with your iPhone.
Basically all modern batteries are built with with a chip that regulates the inputthey will allow what they can handle. The iPads 12 or 18-watt charger is still safe to use with your other USB devices iPhone iPod etc and will not damage them. A 21 amp charger for example will deliver 1 amp if the phone only uses 1 amp but can deliver 21 amp if the phone requires 21 amp. 12 Watt Charger with 6-Foot Cable.
